Occupation:

Why did you Establish TX4W:
I've been serving our country for 29+ years and I want to continue once I retire. I've seen many veterans turn to suicide because of the demons of war and the difficult transition from active duty to civilian. While stationed in Florida, I volunteered with "Florida 4 Warriors" and it opened my eyes to the high suicide rate with vets. I soon became a leader within the nonprofit and focused serving to those vets. That's when I knew I wanted to help my fellow Texas Veterans in the same manner and that's why I established "Texas 4 Warriors." My goal is for our vets to not become part of the '22-a-day' statistic.
What's the most rewarding?
Being able to give back to those that served our country. Some are struggling mentally and don't know how to reach out or feel as if no one cares or understands what they're going through. Some are having financial problems and need employment or assistance and many seek camaraderie. When I see that we're able to give back to those vets, I feel good inside because they gave to us.
What does being a veteran mean to you?
It's knowing I did everything I could to serve my country so we can live in a free world - a world where my kids and grandkids can have an education and grow old with their family. It means to walk the streets and trails with loved ones without fear of something bad happening to us. Being a veteran is an honor that most don't have the courage to do. However, it docent mean they're weak. Most veterans will tell you the military isn't for everyone and that's okay.
Occupation:
Life & communication coach, Speaker, Author.
What's the most rewarding about working with TX4W?
When I can help create a community in which our Texas Veterans can belong to. So many of us transition out of the military lifestyle and feel so lost, under-appreciated, and isolated. Our non-profit opens the conversation and teaches others to become comfortable with being vulnerable. We support our vets by meeting them where they're at by helping them transition out of service, provide financial assistance, PTSD support, and much more. It's a deeply humbling experience to reunite our "family" and give back to those that gave selflessly to us - to build a community that heals.
What does being a veteran mean to you?
Only 6.4% of US citizens are vets and I proudly am part of this statistic. I served 22+ years on active duty and know too well what a veteran means. For me. It's the true definition of commitment, service, and duty. It was sacrificing each day to do the right thing because lives were on the line. It was regaining my balance after I stumbled, no matter the situation. Some people live an entire lifetime wondering if they made some difference in the world. A veteran doesn't have that problem. We know.
How can others help your mission? Follow us on social media and please share our posts. We have many events lined up and are actively seeking local businesses to partner with. There are vets who need assistance and support, One simple share can help them and possibly save a life.

What Motivated you to join the TX4W Team?
I come from a military-serving family. My dad, my father-in-law, my husband, nephews, and several cousins, have all served in the military. I love finding ways to support veteran's causes.
What does it mean to you when you help a veteran?
Both my dad and father-in-law served in Vietnam. Both came back with PTSD issues as well as the horrible health-related problems caused by Agent Orange. I wish there would have been organizations available for them like Texas4Warriors. Veterans have made many sacrifices for their country, including leaving their families for long deployments, risking their lives; and often coming back home broken. I believe that by being on the board of Texas4Warriors, I will play a small part in showing my gratitude for all of the sacrifices they made to protect this country so I can sleep in peace at night.
How do you feel you can help the mission?
With my financial expertise, and exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills; I will be able to ensure the day-to-day financial needs of the organization are met to ensure mission success!
Occupation:
Truck Driver
What Motivated you to join the TX4W Team?
My life has been touched by veteran suicide. My longtime friend and team leader joined the "22" in 2010. He's someone that everyone that met him looked up to. He taught me how to lead and to always put your men first, no matter the consequences.I don't want anyone to feel like he did. When I talked to Mike about TX4W, I saw an opportunity to get involved and make a difference.
What does your veteran identity signify to you?
Veterans are a different breed. We have a dark sense of humor. We have all been in situations where you have to "embrace the suck." We joke about how "Rip it" is the unofficial sponsor of OIF. The "green bean" is the best coffee in the world. When life closes one door, you breach the wall and walk in like a boss. Im proud to be a crayon eating marine.
What impact do you aspire to achieve in your role?
My role is to coordinate, organize, and execute events for TX4W. Everyone deals with trauma in their own way but sometimes having someone that knows what your going through can be what helps them to see their next birthday.
